Dawson City Museum Pan for Gold Database

Dawson City Museum

This site was developed in response to the many requests for information about ancestors received by Dawson City Museum. Descendants of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush stampeders have been accessing archival information at the museum for decades. In response to this demand, the records most commonly used for Gold Rush family history research were digitized for the searchable Gold Rush Genealogy Research Database.

These records include placer mining applications, a postmaster's list of people traveling in the Klondike, death records, the 1896-1920 Dawson Census, NWMP entry records, and lists of people involved with various professions, clubs, and churches. The numerical codes attached to some record entries indicate file sources, microfilm numbers, mining claim numbers, and some census information including ethnicity, occupation, social status and religion may also be available.

When you enter the name you are researching in the search window and hit Submit Query, the database searches through the entire list of records that show up when you scroll down the page. Whenever there is a "hit" the name will appear in association with the record where it was found.

Depending on the type of record, it might be possible to follow-up on the lead at the Dawson Museum, so if you require further information about an individual in the database please contact:
